Pursuit of Excellence President David Roy along with Female Hockey Director and Head Coach Kris Hogg are pleased to announce the hiring of Kathleen Cahoon as the new Female Prep Assistant Coach.

Kathleen comes to POE from UBC, where she was an assistant coach last season. Before stepping into a coaching role, Kathleen played five years at UBC starring in a forward role accumulating awards such as Most Dedicated, Top Forward, Best Defensive Forward and Top Graduating UBC Female Athlete along with being named an assistant captain. During her time at UBC, the Team accomplished 2x Canada West Champion (2016/2017) and National Championship Silver (2016) and Bronze (2017). Before her time at UBC, Kathleen played Midget at Notre Dame Academy in Saskatchewan and in the Hockey Canada National Program for Team Alberta.

“I am beyond excited to join the POE family for this upcoming season. POE is such a well-respected & influential hockey program in Canada -- so to be a part of helping the younger generations develop skills both on and off the ice is a huge privilege for me. I have been fortunate enough to have had some amazing coaches and mentors over the years who have had a positive influence on my life -- which is something I will strive to do with the girls this year. I cannot wait to share my knowledge with the team and to also learn as much as I can. I'm excited to work with Kris as he has helped grow the Female Prep Program into where it is today. I'm looking forward to a great year with this group.”

Kathleen is currently working for BC Wildfire Services fighting fires throughout Canada and will join the Female Prep Team for the start of the year.

“It was very evident from our first meeting that Kathleen is a perfect fit for POE,” said Hogg. “She comes highly regarded from her former coaching staff at UBC and although her playing resume and hockey background speak for themselves, it’s her other qualities that stand out. She has very strong values which relate directly to what we are trying to teach our girls every day at POE. Her work ethic, humble nature and selflessness will be a welcome addition to not only the Female Prep program and players, but the academy as a whole. Any person that is willing to put their life on the line to help save land, livestock, homes and people is a hero and it will be an honour to work alongside Kathleen.”
