"I was involved with the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy during the NHL lock out and was thoroughly impressed. This is a first class program which focuses on developing individuals both on and off the ice. The overall program is well rounded, and the players are well taken care of. From my perspective not enough players spend time on development. In most minor hockey settings the focus is still on games but with the Pursuit program it is on the skills that are critical for success at any level and the Pursuit combines skill development with game experience. I would recommend that if a player has an opportunity to attend the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy they should definitely do so."

"He (David Roy) teaches you the techniques that you really don't think about during the year, but he tries to work them into your head during the summer, and you can use them during the next year. I think he's done a lot for my skating and a lot for my play."

"Growing up in the Czech Republic, I attended several excellent European hockey and skating development camps, but by far the best program I have ever attended has been David Roy's Explosive Skating School.
I have never had my skating analyzed in such a technical way. The video analysis, the use of on-ice projection, and Dave's instruction, helped me clearly see the areas of my skating I need to work on.
The drills performed at top speed, and the off-ice focus on quickness and power, allowed me to improve my skating in a way that will immediately benefit my game."

![]() His focus is a holistic approach to development; focusing on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the game and life. I have utilized many of Dave's concepts into my own game and I believe he has a program in place that can help young athletes become better people and players." Hayley Wickenheiser

"In my opinion as a coach who has both North American and European experience, David Roy is the best skating instructor I have seen."

"We have sent a number of players to skating specialists. By far the most dramatic and quickest improvement has been seen in those players we have sent to Dave Roy, Because of his hockey background, all of the on and off ice training is very hockey specific. The players can see their own improvement in speed and agility and keep going back for more. I would highly recommend Dave Roy to any player, amateur of professional, who wants to improve his competitive edge."

"Jason (Jason Botterill), who is a two time world champion with Canada's National Junior Team and a first-round draft pick of the Dallas Stars, has noticed a huge improvement in his skating and conditioning as a result of working with David Roy.
Jason suggests that 'David's on-ice and off-ice programs help you come a lot closer to your true potential. David is enthusiastic and innovative to work with and uses the latest knowledge and technology in his teaching.'
David is unique in that he appears to have drawn from the latest training insights from several sports including speedskating, figure skating, football, and track and field integrating them and adapting them to produce an innovative hockey-specific skating and conditioning program.
David is a tremendous student of the game and his enthusiasm and quality instruction help players enjoy and improve on important aspects of the game that are often neglected.
David's program is based on the latest training principles related to the dynamics and demands of hockey. Participants are guaranteed great work outs, excellent feedback (video and personal), and motivating instruction.
David has mastered the psychology of quality training and has the best power skating and power training program we have come across. We do not hesitate to strongly recommend David and his programs."

"One of the many ways Dave (Roy) has helped me with my skating over the past three summers was correcting my wide tracking. He showed me how to bring my leg recovery across my centre of gravity, giving me a longer stride and more speed using less energy.
His ability to teach players how to read the ice while continually moving their feet, and his constantly changing innovative techniques . such as on-ice video projection . keep him far ahead of others in the field. Without Dave's help l wouldn't be playing in the NHL."
Bill Muckalt

"During my career in the National Hockey League, I have worked with some of the most reknowned skating instructors in North America. Then I had the opportunity to work with Dave Roy. His techniques are different.
Working with Dave during the NHL lockout significantly improved my skating beyond what any other professional skating instructor has been able to accomplish. And in less time, through the use of video tape analysis and game-simulated drills, I was able to improve particularly the efficiency and speed of my skating as well as my quickness and balance in making tight turns. He has also kept me in great game shape through the use of lightning cords and parachutes. Now if only he could improve my hands!"
